Due to a lower crop, a limit of 8L per household applies this season to ensure fairness to all. Thank you for your understanding.

Pre-order 2024 harvest olio nuovo now, expected to be pressed and shipped early May 2024.

What is Olio Nuovo?
Although all of our olive oils are organic and first cold pressed (we only do a first pressing), at the start of each harvest season we bottle Olio Nuovo (new oil) - our labor of love - a special limited release of unfiltered cold pressed organic extra virgin olive oil from the first olives harvested (mainly green olives). Hand selected olives, picked, cold pressed, unfiltered and bottled without delay while still cloudy - the flavours are amazingly vibrant and fruity, as fresh as you can get! This medium flavour intensity oil displays complex fruitiness, green herbaceous characters and a peppery finish. This limited release oil is popular and highly sought after at harvest time. Enjoy the vibrant flavours while the oil is fresh, drizzle it on everything!

Pre-ordering process
Pre-order now to be among the first to taste our 2024 olio nuovo! To secure your Olio Nuovo, pre-orders must be paid at time of order (proceed to checkout). There may also be an opportunity to order at harvest time, but please be aware olio nuovo is in high demand and usually sells out quickly each season. Please note - orders that include other products as well as olio nuovo will be held until harvest time (early May 2024) and sent in the one shipment. Our award winning 2023 signature and 2023 delicate oils are still available to order now for immediate despatch. All our olive oils are first cold pressed, unfilterered, unrefined and shipped directly from our farm to your door. If you want to order 2023 oils or other products to be shipped now, please place a separate order that doesn't include olio nuovo.

Why is Olio Nuovo worth more than other oils?
Our Olio Nuovo is made from extra low yielding green olives. Green olives produce oil with an intense, herbaceous flavour profile, rich in polyphenols (antioxidents) - but yield significantly less oil compared to riper olives - approximately half the amount. This means we need to harvest and press nearly twice the quantity of olives to produce each precious litre of Olio Nuovo, compared to other oils. Environmental challenges this season have further reduced our harvest, limiting the production of our premium olive oil and labor of love; olio nuovo. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

2024 harvest information
Olive oil reflects the land and climate (terroir) in which it was grown and each season varies slightly. Heat and a little stress over summer increases the antioxidant content (polyphenols) which gives a peppery finish, as well as concentrating the flavour of the oil, producing our typically low yield of beautiful, thick and fruity organic olive oil. Olio nuovo features hand selected olive varieties including Verdale, Mission and Benito. Although it varies each season, the typical polyphenol level of Olio Nuovo is in the range 250 - 300 mg/kg (ppm)

Why is fresh oil cloudy?
Olive oil this fresh and unfiltered is cloudy due to fine particles of olive flesh suspended in the oil. These are high in antioxidants and contribute to the vibrant flavour of freshly pressed oil. Because this oil is bottled straight from the press the settling process that normally happens in our tanks will occur in your bottle or tin, so expect to find some sediment at the bottom. We recommend using as much oil as possible when it's fresh and cloudy!

Judges' comments: "Deep and intense green aromas including fresh tomato leaf, red tomato fruit, dry herbs, fig leaves, cut grass and green bean. The palate displays a great texture with buttery mouthfeel. The flavours carry through adding green banana skin, fig leaves, nettle, and rocket salad. The bitterness is medium with well-balanced pungency. The finish is creamy, clean and has a super sensation of freshness that lingers for ever."
